I am for keeping the form of governance we currently have in Oakland Township. I have voted twice for keeping ordinance 97 (A through O); full-time Manager with part-time Supervisor, Clerk and Treasurer. The way Oakland Township operates currently I feel makes for a strong board. The Board is able to focus on what needs to be voted on and the Manager and Staff are able to focus on the daily running of the office. During one of my training sessions at the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks Institute it was brought up that more Townships are becoming interested in the Manager style of government, because it can make for an easier transition when elected officials change.
